Why eating like an adult pays off huge times.
Be prepared for some tough love, because I am tired of seeing adults eating like an unchaperoned child at a birthday buffet. We are putting so much effort in our training, we optimise sleep and lifestyle, yet we pay little attention of what we are actually putting into our bodies besides “hitting our macros”. It is nice to have a flexible diet, but that doesn’t mean you can squeeze as much junk in it as you can. It is time for a reality check!

A vicious circle leading nowhere and how to break it.
Permanently dieting is the number one mistake people make after they achieved their first big fat loss goal. They are happy they look and feel the way they do now and afraid that gaining weight will kill the goals they achieved. They want to maintain the shredded look, but often maintaining is the hardest thing to do, leading only to more restraint than the diet itself. Read on to learn more about these problems and how to get rid of them!

Eating more food to stay happy while losing fat.
The laws of thermodynamics are unforgiving. To lose body fat, we have to force our body to burn our own reserves to fuel our energy demands. This quickly devolves into “eating less of …” spiraling down to ridiculous serving sizes as you try to maintain weight loss. Hunger creeps up. Frustration levels rise. Adherence plummets. But we can counteract this by eating more! Eating more of the right stuff. How is this possisble? Read on!

Busting another fitness myth with the power of science.
Media and the more agressive representants of the body positivity movement promoted the idea that dieting is bad. Their idea is that being in a caloric deficit for a more or less extended period of time permanently damages the metabolism. Therefore you will be dooomed forever to eat a ridiculously low amount of calories otherwise you will become fat. Gladly there is plenty of good evidence on this subject, so let’s take a look at it and once and for all get rid of this myth!

Comforting and diet friendly.
I’m not sure why stuffing minced meat into a bell pepper completely transforms both ingredients, but it does. A delicious smell wafting through your home will be a welcome byproduct of this comfort food classic. And it is even super diet friendly! So what are you waiting for, give it a try!

The traditional dieting approach freaks some people out. They want to do something about their health, but counting calories, weighing food, having a training plan and taking progress pictures is just too much for them. As much as I think this approach leads to optimal results, there should be a way to help everybody. An approach that doesn’t focus on weight on the scale, but on improving healthy habits is appropriate for those clients. How could this look like? Well, let’s take a look!

A Viennese classic made cut-friendly.
Paprika Hendl (“Hendl” is Austrian slang for chicken) is a typical Viennese dish rich in, not surprisingly, paprika, the dried and ground red bell peppers that are so popular due to the former Austro-Hungarian empire. And paprika is still very popular, in certain parts of Austria you don’t have salt and pepper on the table, there is salt and paprika. Normally there are loads of fatty sour cream in this dish, making it not exactly a weightloss friendly dish, but I changed things up a little and it works beautifully. Give it a try!

Please god, make it stop.
“Detox”… every time I hear this word my scientific soul dies a little bit. Because I can not believe that in the year of 2019 we still follow such hocus-pocus. Well, there are people out there telling you that vaccins cause autism or the earth is flat or whatever esoteric crap is the newest sh*t. Ok, sorry for the rant but it drives me crazy when people use other people’s lack of knowledge, as in the case of all this “cleanse” and “detoxes” popping up every year either during Lent season or as summer is approaching. They promise you to clear the body from harmful “toxins”, that prevent you from losing fat or making you feel sleepy or whatsoever. Usually, a restrictive diet in liquid form (juices anyone?) and/or an expensive supplement is prescribed, promising loss of weight and other miracles. Is there any truth behind this stuff?

Common myths, misconceptions and frequently asked questions.
Fitness, health and nutrition media is notoriously full of misinformation, misinterpretation and outright lies. Welcome to advanced fat loss strategies.
The idea for this blog article (actually the title) came from a good former collegue of mine who is passionate about training and food as we are but is struggling with his weight. This is frustrating especially if you are investing a lot of time and effort in it! He is definitely not alone with it: Stefan and I went through some of the common pitfalls too and did have longer periods where we didn’t make any progress. In this article we collected some of the reasons why your weight loss efforts may not be working as you wish.
